Cincinnati Earns Second-Highest AFC Free Agency Grade From Sports Illustrated

Cincinnati went through the full free agency rollercoaster this year.

CINCINNATI — Sports Illustrated graded each AFC squad on its free agency moves so far this cycle and the Bengals checked in with an A-.

That was the second-best grade behind the Dolphins (A).

"The surprise signing of (Orlando) Brown was enough to make the Bengals winners in free agency," Gilberto Manzano wrote. "Brown’s presence will allow Joe Burrow time to push the ball downfield to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Cincinnati lost both its starting safeties in (Jessie) Bates and (Vonn) Bell, but added a savvy veteran in Scott."

Cincinnati downgraded at safety and took a slight hit at tight end, but could make up for it with the stable play of Brown at left tackle.

Cincinnati's biggest question mark is running back and still tight end given the fact Irv Smith's played in just 37 games since entering the league in 2019.
