CINCINNATI — Bengals' director of player personnel appeared on The Pat McAfee Show this week and dove into what the status of Joe Burrow's contract extension looks like.

Tobin insured the crew that Burrow won't be needing a loan anytime soon.

"Thankfully Katie's (Blackburn) on top of that one," Duke said with a laugh. "She's the one that keeps us keeps us on track with the salary cap. Not only for this year but for future years. So everything we do and we're looking now, but these dollars count, if you're not counting them this year, you're gonna count them next year, and the year after. ... So it's a pie. Just how big of a piece of the pie you know, the only thing I can predict with the contract is it's gonna be a sizable amount of money, and he's not going to be asking any of you for loans anytime soon."

The train keeps rolling towards an eventual pin to paper on the deal that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported will "no doubt" make Burrow the new highest-paid player in the NFL.

That means he's on track to earn upwards of $52.5 million AAV on a fresh contract through the latter part of this decade.
