Ja'Marr Chase Discusses Improving Sleep Habits Entering Third NFL Season
CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had a ready answer when asked about the biggest thing he's changed off the field to have a big 2023 season: Better sleep.
AllBengals James Rapien caught up with the Bengals' top playmaker this weekend.
"Really just staying more on my body and my sleep schedule," Chase told Rapien. "I think that was the most that I had to worry about my first two years was just trying to sleep at night. And I always had that problem when I was in college. So just me learning how to sleep better. Get off the game, get off the phone, stuff like that. ... Hop in the chamber get an extra hour of sleep."
Chase is referring to a hyperbaric chamber which increases the air pressure in an enclosed capsule, allowing the lungs to take in more oxygen and aid recovery.
"Hyperbaric chambers for like concussion protocols, injuries, sleep," Chase said. "Anything basically to get you back feeling normal again. You know what I'm saying? I did it for my hip. I slept in there almost like three times a week. It helps the healing process go faster."
Chase confirmed those nights weren't very comfortable, but necessary to get him back on the field for the stretch run of Cincinnati's 2022 season.
Chase still posted over 1,000 yards despite that injury as he pulls out all the stops to play a full season in 2023.
