Watch: Potential Bengals Draft Target Johnny Newton's Stock Could be Changing After Pro Day

Is Johnny Newton in danger of falling to round two?

CINCINNATI — Illinois defensive tackle Johnny Newton is considered one of the top two players at his position in the 2024 NFL Draft.

From his production, to his size and ability to get after the quarterback, there's a lot to like about his game. Some Bengals fans want the team to take him with the No. 18 pick in this year's draft, but there's a chance he falls to round two.

That scenario may sound unlikely, but the chances of Newton falling likely increased on Tuesday when he didn't go through any of the on-field testing at his personal Pro Day.

Newton did on-field drills, but didn't run a 40-yard dash or go through any of the agility drills. It's still unlikely that he falls to the Bengals in round two (No. 49 overall), but that scenario did arise in Mel Kiper's latest mock draft.

It's also worth noting that Dane Brugler gave Newton a round one/two grade in his guide, which means he wouldn't be shocked if the Illinois product fell to the second day of the draft.
