Browns GM Andrew Berry Updates Plan at Center and Kicker
Cleveland Browns general manager highlighted where the team stands at a couple of positions during his brief press conference at the NFL combine.
At this time, Berry said that the Browns have no plans to bring in another kicker to push Cade York. There will be no kicker battle in Berea and that may be for the best. York's confidence can only be boosted knowing he's the only guy, and he will be the first to tell you he has to be better than he was in 2022.
Cleveland has a question mark at the center position with Ethan Pocic set to be a free agent. Pocic broke out with the Browns in 2022 and was one of the best centers in football. At the beginning of the year, it was Nick Harris set to be the guy before an injury derailed his season.
The tough thing with Pocic will be the two sides agreeing on the amount. Cleveland will have to decide if the player we saw in 2022 will continue to be Pocic, or will he regress back to serviceable.
Berry said that he will speak to Pocic's representatives at the combine to see where the sides stand.
If the Browns and Pocic don't come together on a deal, it could be Harris out there in 2023 if the medicals check out. Regardless, Cleveland would have to bring in some depth at the position.
