Texans have 'Strong' Interest in Poaching Browns Defensive Assistant
Cleveland Browns were always going to have to find some new assistants on the defensive side of the football when they hired a new defensive coordinator in Jim Schwartz. Now, it is becoming more clear who the Browns could be replacing.
According to a report, the Houston Texans and current Browns defensive line coach Chris Kiffin have a mutual interest in coming together.
"Another leading candidate to join the Texans staff is veteran defensive line coach Chris Kiffin with strong mutual interest between him and the AFC South franchise, according to sources. Kiffin, a former 49ers pass rush specialist who overlapped with Ryans in San Francisco on coach Kyle Shanahan’s staff, is the defensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns."
Kiffin is the brother of Lane Kiffin, the current head coach at Ole Miss. Kiffin has been with the Browns since 2020 as a part of head coach Kevin Stefanski's staff.
The Browns attempted to interview Matt a Burke for the defensive line job, but he took a defensive coordinator position with the Texans, on DeMeco Ryan's staff.
Cleveland looks like they'll have to replace Kiffin sooner rather than later.
