Browns Injury Update on Multiple Players who may not Play Against Jets
Ahead of Thursday night’s preseason opener against the New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns are working through some injury news that could affect a few players.
The Browns announced on Wednesday that most starters, if not all, will not play in what head coach Kevin Stefanski called “preseason week 0". I am expecting that the Browns likely won’t play any starters, as the Jets have already said they won’t.
During yesterday’s practice tight ends Jordan Akins (knee) and Harrison Bryant were joined by wide receivers Jaelon Darden and Marquise Goodwin (blood clots) on the side. Out of these players, the only one I could see playing any on Thursday would be Darden. Akins missed four straight practices, while Goodwin’s timetable to return is unclear.
Cornerback Greg Newsome II left practice early on Tuesday for an undisclosed reason, while cornerback Mike Ford left practice early on Tuesday with what appeared to be a leg injury. Wide receiver Mike Harley Jr. is continuing to work his way back from a concussion.
Expect the Browns to give their young guys and the end of the roster plenty of run tomorrow. This serves as a nice opportunity for those guys to do work with eyes on them.
