Chargers News: 3 Bolts Legends Semifinalists For 2024 Hall Of Fame Class

In this story:

Throughout the 64-year history of your Los Angeles Chargers, the franchise is lucky to have garnered an abundance of talented Hall of Fame players. Whether they stuck around for their entire career or only one, they were Bolt members at some point in their career.

And in due time, the Chargers may add three more former ex-Bolts to the 2024 Hall of Fame class, including possibly the greatest Charger of all time, tight end Antonio Gates.

Gates and two other former Bolts, safety Rodney Harrison and defensive end Dwight Freeney were also named semi-finalists for the 2024 class.

The undrafted tight end joined the Chargers in 2003 and panned out one heck of a career. In his 16-year career, all with the Chargers, he recorded 955 receptions for 11,841 yards and 116 touchdowns. His 116 touchdowns are the most by a tight end in NFL history, and there is no denying the impact he's had on the organization.

On top of all of that, Gates will be the 41st member enshrined into the Chargers Hall of Fame during LA's Week 14 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

As for Harrison, he spent the first nine seasons of his career in San Diego. He's probably more known for being a New England Patriot, but he did earn one of his two All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods with the Bolts in 1998.

And Freeney, who spent two seasons with the Bolts in 2013 and 2014, recorded an incredible 16-year career, mainly with the Indianapolis Colts. He was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s and ranks 18th all-time in sacks with 125.5.

There's no doubt all these three former Chargers will be Hall of Famers, and we cannot wait until they are officially enshrined.
