Chargers News: Adam Schefter Breaks Down How Bolts Plan to Hire Jim Harbaugh

In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly set to interview Jim Harbaugh for their head coach vacancy today. The NFL world will be watching to see if there is a deal struck that would reunite Harbaugh with pro football.

There are extenuating circumstances that would prevent the Bolts from landing Harbaugh today, such as the Rooney Rule. The Chargers would have had to interview at least two minority candidates before they could make a formal offer.

Still, there is a ton of interest from both Harbaugh and the Chargers organization. It would have to be the perfect storm for this hire to happen, but expert NFL analyst Adam Schefter broke down how the Chargers could go about luring Harbaugh to take the job.

Schefted appeared on the Pac McAfee Show to speak about the possibility that the Chargers could hire Harbaugh. He began by stating that Harbaugh certainly loves Michigan, and he did just win a national championship there.

Still, Schefted indicates that the Chargers will heavily pursue Harbaugh. According to Schefter:

"I believe the Chargers are targeting him to be their guy & we'll see if they can sit down and figure it out. That means, ok can the Chargers set up their organization in a way that Jim would be comfortable? Are they saying the same kind of things, and speaking the same kind of language?"

The same type of language refers to new nutrition programs, weight room changes, and everything likely needed to make the Chargers a better organization from the ground up.

Schefter also mentioned the scouting team, which we imagine would be at the top of Harbaugh's list. He just spent the last eight years with Michigan, and we imagine his talent for evaluating college players is even better.

Harbaugh would be the right person to help rebuild the Chargers to become the AFC powerhouse many expected them to be. It will just be if the Spanos family can convince Harbaugh that leaving Michigan is the right move.
