Commanders Odafe Oweh Showcases Elite Explosiveness in Viral Offseason Workout

In this story:
General manager Adam Peters has done an excellent job reshaping the Washington Commanders roster this offseason. A ton of moves were made in free agency, with 17 signings or re-signings to go along with extensions for Larmey Tunsil and Nick Allegretti.
The front office and staff had made it clear the direction they want to go in this next step of the rebuild of the franchise, getting younger, faster, and more versatile. And that couldn't be more evident than in the Commanders' "splash" signing of up-and-coming edge rusher Odafe Oweh.
The Commanders are excited for the potential of Oweh and what he will be able to bring to the defense, and fans are starting to see why, as one of his offseason workout videos has made its way around social media, showing just how explosive and athletic he is.

Oweh Expected to Have Major Impact
A former first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, Oweh has spent the majority of his career as a rotational edge, with his best season coming in 2024 when he started 10 games and came away with 10 sacks.
Oweh was expected to take a leap with the Ravens in 2025, but wasn't able to muster much production through five games in Baltimore before being traded to the Los Angeles Chargers, where he immediately saw a surge in production.
In 12 games with the Chargers, Oweh's stats increased as he came away with 7.5 sacks, and ended the season 30th among all pass rushers in total pressures (47) while ranking 17th among 115 qualified edge rushers when it comes to pass-rush grade (78.0) per Pro Football Focus. While impressive, it could be cause for concern about whether or not Oweh will be consistent now that he is expected to be the guy coming off the edge for the Commanders.

Even so, it's undeniable how freakish Oweh is. While not talked about much in the regular season, Oweh quickly became a household name in the playoffs against the Super Bowl runners-up, the New England Patriots. In that Wild Card game alone, Oweh totaled three sacks on Drake Maye, had three tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. Game-wrecking stuff.
The ceiling is high for Oweh as he enters year six in the league, and he will look to improve on his already impressive resume now that he will be relied upon to be one of the best pass rushers in the league, like he is being paid to do.
