Dallas Cowboys 'Magician' Christian Parker Continues Drawing Rave Reviews

Dallas Cowboys training camp is in full swing, with the team set to hit the field for its first game of the NFL preseason in a matter of days. On Saturday, August 15, the Cowboys will face the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.

Leading up to the preseason opener, there has been plenty of excitement surrounding the team, led by the revamped roster under defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

Parker has made a strong impression on those taking in the action in Oxnard and has immediately earned the respect of the team's young and veteran players. Earlier this week, during a joint scrimmage, Parker's defense put on a show against the Los Angeles Rams, and it's clear that players are buying into his scheme.

Cowboys pass rusher Rashan Gary, who the team acquired at the start of the new league year in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, recently appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, where he became the latest member of the team to hype up Parker and his football IQ.

Gary is familiar with Parker, who was on the Packers' staff during his first year in the league, so he comes with a better understanding of what Parker brings to the table than others on the Cowboys' roster.

"Man, what can he not do? He understands the back end.He understands the fronts. He understands how offense wants to, you know, attack our defenses," Gary said.

"And on top of that, he understands how to maximize his players, and that's in terms of, you know, freeing up more one-on-ones or find an opportunity to get, you know, a running, I mean, a linebacker on a running back, you know, mixing up the coverage to play with, you know, quarterback mindset. Don't want to say too much, but he's a magician in what he does."

We will get a better look at how the Cowboys' defense is coming together when they take the field for the preseason opener, but it will still likely be a more vanilla approach to the defensive gameplan. After all, Parker doesn't want to reveal all of his cards ahead of the regular-season opener against the division rival New York Giants. But with what everyone has seen so far, the team is heading in the right direction.
