Giants Reportedly to Host CB Terrion Arnold for a Visit

In this story:
The New York Giants are starting to get banged up across the board, but no position has been as hard hit as the cornerback spot.
The Giants, who currently have slot cornerback Dru Phillips (knee), Paulson Adebo (unknown), and Greg Newsome II (knee) sidelined, are reportedly planning to host former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold on Wednesday for a visit, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Arnold has appeared in 24 regular-season games for the Lions with 22 starts. He has one career interception, 18 pass breakups, 91 tackles (70 solos) and one fumble recovery.
Arnold’s planned visit with Big Blue has triggered questions about the long-term injury statuses of Phillips, Adebo, and Newsome and how the length of their respective absences could affect the depth at the position.
The Giants could simply be doing due diligence just in case the injury bug further hits the position group.
New York is already looking at potentially having to roll with Deonte Banks and rookie Colton Hood on the perimeter and defensive back Ar’Darius Washington in the slot when they host the Minnesota Vikings for the preseason opener this weekend.
Adding a player of Arnold’s caliber would give the team’s defensive secondary depth a big boost.
Arnold, the Lions’ first-round pick (No. 24 overall), was released by Detroit in June after he was accused of off-field indiscretions
His attorneys released a statement that “there is no credible evidence” linking the cornerback to the allegations brought against him.
Since his release by the Lions, Arnold has drawn interest from around the league, including the Colts, Jets, Seahawks, and Texans. His legal case is still pending, but he is free to engage in discussions with teams about his next stop.
