Even without a quarterback in place, the Pittsburgh Steelers jumped at the chance to acquire wide receiver DK Metcalf in an offseason trade with the Seattle Seahawks. The former second-round pick was sent to Pittsburgh in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

The Seahawks have since gone in a different direction at wide receiver, signing Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. Meanwhile, the Steelers are thrilled to add the two-time Pro Bowler to an offense that already features a budding star in George Pickens.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is a huge fan of Metcalf and can't wait to utilize the wide receiver's many skills.

"There's very little on the football field from a wide receiver perspective that he can't do," Tomlin said of Metcalf in a new ESPN feature. "He's got short game, he's got long game. He's a combat-catch guy. He's got run after. He's a devastating run blocker. We're really excited about the addition of DK Metcalf, and we're going to use all those talents."

Metcalf has accomplished a lot for a 27-year-old, recording 438 receptions for 6,324 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns over his first six seasons in Seattle.

The consistency he's shown each year, despite the switch from Russell Wilson to Geno Smith at quarterback is even more impressive. Since entering the league, Metcalf has never finished with less than 900 yards in a season.

Some have speculated that there could be some issue in pairing Metcalf with Pickens, but Tomlin doesn't see that as a problem.

"We'll figure that out, but that's not a problem as I see it," concluded Tomlin.
