Seahawks select blocking tight end Robbie Ouzts in fifth round of 2025 NFL draft

The Seattle Seahawks are making a point to prioritize toughness over flashiness in the 2025 NFL draft. The team has strengthened the offensive and defensive lines, upgraded the secondary and now add a powerful people-mover in Alabama tight end Robbie Ouzts.

The Seahawks selected Ouzts late in the fifth round and there's a lot to like about the Crimson Tide standout. In terms of pass-blocking tight ends, it doesn't get much better than Ouzts in this year's draft class.

NFL.com draft analyst Lace Zierlein praised Ouzts' strength and blocking ability in his 2025 scouting profile.

"Ouzts is built like an ironworker who has a squat rack in the garage," wrote Zierlein. "He’s compact and muscular but surprisingly athletic in routes and on move blocks. He can align as a wing and fits up blocks with good technique and balance, but he gets discarded by longer opponents."

Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak could use Ouzts as a lead blocker out of the backfield, possibly alternating between tight end and full back. Zierlein likes the Alabama tight end's versatility:

"As a lead blocker he sees the run lane like a running back and adjusts well to strike moving targets. He can run routes if needed and should play on kick return, punt cover and field goal teams. A move to fullback will give him a chance to compete for a roster spot."

Ouzts is the second tight end drafted by Seattle thus far in the 2025 NFL draft. The team added Miami's Elijah Arroyo on Day 2. Arroyo is more of a pass-catching specialist than Ouzts, who is more of a blocking specialist.
