4 Titans Players with the Most at Stake Entering Final Week of Training Camp

These Titans players must turn in stand out performances in the final week of training camp

The Tennessee Titans wrapped up their second preseason game on Sunday, defeating the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 19-16 at Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee is now 2-0 in the preseason, but the wins were pretty ugly and saw both units struggle mightily against backups. The Titans will finish training camp in Nashville with a joint practice and preseason game against the Chicago Bears this week.

Though the last week of preseason means the regular season is one step closer, a few Titans have a lot at stake over the next few days as the franchise looks to cut the roster down to 53 players.

WR Xavier Restrepo

Restrepo hauled in two more catches in Tennessee's win over Seattle, and though the Miami product isn't posting eye-popping numbers, it's clear that he's progressing in his development.

As of now, Restrepo likely doesn't have a roster spot. If the Titans keep six receivers, Bryce Oliver will surely receive that spot because of his special teams ability. However, Restrepo has one final opportunity this week to bolster his roster case or even make Tennessee consider retaining seven receivers.

LB Cody Barton

Barton has been outplayed by rookie Anthony Hill Jr. and James Williams Sr. in camp, and his starting spot should be on the line this week.

Though Barton is experienced and was a serviceable player for the Titans last year, Hill and Williams provide much more upside as the starter next to Cedric Gray in the middle of Tennessee's defense. Barton must stand out versus the Bears, or his starting gig could get snatched sooner than expected.

Guard Fernando Carmona

Carmona has risen from a rookie fighting for a role to the favorite to be the Titans' starting right guard. The Arkansas product has gotten better and better as camp has gone on, and has been fantastic in the preseason, allowing just one pressure so far.

However, Carmona hasn't locked up the starting job just yet. The 24-year-old needs to turn in a solid week of work against Chicago and prove that he is capable of being a key piece of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's group as a rookie.

Guard Cordell Volson

While Carmona has risen, Volson has fallen. The former Cincinnati Bengal entered camp as the favorite to be the starting right guard, but he's now in danger of getting cut.

Volson was awful in the preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers, and though the veteran was better on Sunday, he still didn't play well enough to ensure a roster spot. Volson posted an 85.1 Pro Football Focus run-blocking grade versus the Seahawks, but was subpar in pass protection with a 45.0 grade.

If Volson doesn't assert his presence this week, it could be the end of the road for him in Nashville. The 28-year-old might have the most at stake out of any Titan in the next couple of days.
