Dodgers Designate Reliever for Assignment, Sign Veteran Ahead of Sunday’s Game vs Mets

In this story:
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a bit of a pitching shuffle ahead of their rubber match against the New York Mets.
L.A. has signed right-hander Chris Stratton, optioned right-hander Bobby Miller to Triple-A, and designated right-hander J.P. Feyereisen for assignment in a corresponding move to make room on the roster for the newly-signed veteran.

Stratton has World Series experience and has logged over 620 innings over a decade of experience in the big leagues. He is a career-4.63 ERA pitcher who will hopefully be a productive and reliable piece to the bullpen.
Miller will return to Triple-A where he was in the middle of coincidentally posting a 4.63 ERA mark with Oklahoma City. He is still showing command issues given his 31 strikeouts to 29 walks in the minors, and has a ways to go before returning to 2023 form.
The 2023 campaign watched a then-rookie Miller go 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA. He hurled 119 strikeouts to just 32 walks over his 22 starts.
As for Feyereisen, he was there for the Dodgers bullpen during this unpredictable stretch of the season in terms of pitching, but has not performed well at the MLB level.

Feyereisen pitched just two innings this season, his second stint as a Dodger, but allowed three earned runs and eight hits against 14 total batters faced. In Triple-A Oklahoma City, Feyereisen attained a 3.75 ERA in three outings over 2.2 innings pitched.
These moves show just how fluid the Dodgers pitching roster has been in 2025.
It isn't just the 14 pitched on the injured list, but the need for consistency in the bullpen. That is something that Miller and Feyereisen weren't proving to be able to provide, but perhaps what Stratton can bring to the hill in a Dodgers uniform.
Fans should expect more shuffling on and around the mound until more shelved pitchers heal, but at least for the moment, Stratton will do his best to produce quality innings for L.A.
