Sandy Alcantara’s Complete Game Numbers Since 2022 Are Absolutely Insane

In this story:
The Miami Marlins are off to a hot start in 2026, and it's largely due to the mix of successful pitching and even better hitting. The Marlins are one of the better MLB franchises when it comes to contact hitting, but their starting pitching staff can be criminally underrated/overlooked.
Not one of the more underrated or overlooked players for the Marlins for a handful of seasons has been Sandy Alcantara, who continues to mow down opponents at the plate. 2025 looks to be a fluke season for Miami's ace, as he was recovering from Tommy John surgery.
But through two starts of 2026, Alcantara is putting up impressive numbers, especially in his complete game total compared to the rest of Major League Baseball.
Alcantara's Dominance in Complete Games

Following his complete game shutout that handed Miami another win over the Chicago White Sox, a game in which Alcantara struck out seven hitters, allowed just three hits, and didn't walk a soul, the Marlins ace totaled his 10th complete game since 2022.
According to MLB Network on X (formerly Twitter), Alcantara stands alone as the only player with the most complete games in Major League Baseball since 2022. The full list can be viewed below:
1. Philadelphia Phillies (11)
2. Sandy Alcantara (10)
3. Houston Astros (10)
4. Boston Red Sox (8)
5. San Francisco Giants (8)
According to Statmuse, Framber Valdez, Nathan Eovaldi and Jordan Lyles are the three closest pitchers since 2022 to 10 complete games. Proving Alcantara is chasing down some impressive history.
It's these kinds of performances that have put Alcantara's name on the map. He was a trade target last season, and depending on how this season unfolds for the Marlins, he could very well be in the conversation again.

Alcantara has a team option for the 2027 season that the Marlins can decide to exercise, should he remain on the team. But if he continues to perform as he has through the first two starts of the season, and Miami is out of contention, it would be in their best interest to trade him.
This is a good sign for the Marlins organization and Alcantara; if this season started off poorly for the ace, fans would have growing concerns. It hasn't looked like Alcantara is feeling the way he did when he began 2025, more so, he's feeling the way he ended his 2025 campaign.
Pair this success with Eury Perez, the Marlins' one-two punch at the top of the rotation is one of the better in the National League.
