Sixers Reveal Joel Embiid’s Initial Injury Report Status vs. Heat

In this story:
It’s unclear if Joel Embiid will play two games in a row for the Philadelphia 76ers this week.
After making his return to the court on Tuesday to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder, Embiid has been listed as questionable for the Sixers’ Thursday night game against the Miami Heat.
Embiid’s initial status doesn’t come as a shock. Coming off of an eight-week recovery period after dealing with a meniscus injury, which required surgery, Embiid and the Sixers have to carefully approach these next couple of weeks.
As of now, the Sixers aren’t a lock to make the 2024 NBA Playoffs. In the event they do crack the postseason once again, making sure Embiid is healthy for their run is a top priority.
In his return against OKC on Tuesday night, Embiid had a slight minutes restriction. After checking in for nearly 30 minutes, Embiid drained six of his 14 shots from the field. He also went 12-12 from the free throw line to score 24 points. Along with his scoring, Embiid dished out seven assists while coming down with six rebounds.
The big man’s presence was also a huge boost on the defensive end of the floor. After the Sixers held the Thunder to 105 points, the Sixers defended their home court, sealing the night with a victory over the top seed in the West.
Philly’s Thursday night matchup against the Heat will be critical for the Eastern Conference playoff race. Getting Embiid back for a second-straight game would be great for the Sixers, but they can’t take any risks if he needs additional time off between games.
The Sixers and the Heat will tip-off at 7:30 PM ET on Thursday.
