With their backs against the wall, the Dallas Mavericks responded and stepped up to take down the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. It was a gritty victory as the Mavericks quieted the home crowd with a massive second quarter.

Anthony Davis got off to a slow start but hit some massive shots late in the first half. He seemed to get into a rhythm after the break, steadily finding his groove on offense while harassing the Kings on the other side of the floor.

Davis ended up leading the Mavericks in scoring, putting up 27 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, and 1 steal in 35 minutes of action. Though he only shot 9/23 from the field, he made a few timely buckets to prevent Sacramento from getting back into the game down the stretch.

As the clock wound down, Davis responded with a few NSFW words to jeers from Kings' fans watching their final game of the season.

Kindly enough, Davis let the Sacramento supporters know it was time to head for the exits.

"They want to talk s--t, let's talk s--t. Ya'll know ya'll lost, ya'll know ya'll lost. Ya'll might want to beat that traffic though," Davis said.

Dallas will need more of the same edge from Davis to keep its season alive against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.

The Mavericks and Grizzles are set to tip-off at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN.
