Monty Williams Reacts to Cam Johnson's Injury

Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams didn't offer much to say when asked about Cam Johnson's injury.

It's rare when Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams is a man of few words, but that was exactly the case when addressing reporters for the first time since news broke that the Suns reportedly fear Johnson tore the meniscus in his right knee on Friday.

"He's a starter for us, so it's always it's a tough blow just to see a guy not be in the lineup, that kind of thing. But that happens throughout the season, you just have to make your adjustments," said Williams before facing the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.

Shams Charania initially reported the news.

When asked about the MRI, Williams said, "I haven't gone that far until I get an official report."

It still sounds as if the Suns are completing more testing, but the overall news does not bode well in Phoenix.

The team is now likely to be without Johnson for an extended period of time, and will look for players such as Torrey Craig and Dario Saric to see an increased role in Johnson's absence.

Johnson left five minutes into action on Friday, coming off a game where paced the Suns in 29 points to help push them to a 6-1 record.

Portland, even without the likes of Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons, were about to pull out a win over the Suns after Johnson departed. We'll see what the immediate and long-term group looks like on the floor after another test vs. the Trail Blazers tonight.
