Suns Ex-Ticket Manager Sentenced To Year In Jail, per Report

ESPN reports that former Phoenix Suns ticket manager Jeffrey Marcussen was sentenced to a year in jail for fraud

Former Phoenix Suns ticket manager Jeffrey Marcussen was sentenced to one year in jail on Friday, being found guilty on charges of fraud and theft for the illegal sale of more than 2,800 team tickets through a third party between 2017-19.

Marcussen, who worked for the Suns from 2004-19, was charged in September 2020 with four felonies, two of which were for filing false tax returns. Prosecutors have claimed that Marcussen sold tickets on StubHub, an online ticket retail site, without authorization. The Suns are not selling tickets through the platform.

Marcussen agreed to pay the team $458,118 in damages, according to legal records acquired by ESPN

He also has to pay $1,780 to the Arizona Attorney General's anti-racket fund and $11,818 to the Arizona Department of Income earlier this year.

"I would like to apologize to the Phoenix Suns and all of my former colleagues within the organization I worked with for over 20 years. I cherished my time with the Phoenix Suns and worked with several amazing people. Because of that, it was important for me to make full restitution to the organization as soon as possible. I would also like to apologize to my family and friends. I appreciate all of their love and support. I would not have been able to get through this without them," Marcussen said.

Per ESPN, Marcussen's one-year jail sentence is scheduled to begin on December 1.
