Chase Brown Eager to Learn From Joe Mixon: 'One of Our College Drills Was Called The Mixon Drill'

Brown should have a role in the offense this coming season.

CINCINNATI — Chase Brown figures to be the second-string running back behind Joe Mixon in 2023, and the Bengals' rookie rusher has already had experience watching/learning from Mixon.

Illinois called its jump cut drill for running backs "The Mixon Drill" while Brown was there.

"One of our drills in college was actually called the Mixon drill," Brown said. "Where you know, you're jump cutting. It's kind of cool."

Brown, 22, ran for 1,643 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He also had 27 receptions for 240 yards and 3 scores.

The spark plug could have a similar impact to Gio Bernard in the 2010s. A player Mixon learned from in his early days.

"Learning from someone that's been successful in the NFL for many years," Brown said about Mixon. "I'm just trying to learn as much as I can from him. How he approaches game day, practices, and drills. Just kind of learn from him as much as possible."
