Jimmy Chase on Ja'Marr Chase's Draft Fate: 'Why Don’t we Just go to South Beach?'

In this story:
CINCINNATI — The Bengals had a clear path to drafting Ja'Marr Chase two years ago once the Falcons took Kyle Pitts with the fourth pick but Jimmy Chase revealed he originally wanted his son to play for Miami.
Chase told the story on the latest Bengals Booth Podcast. Miami held the sixth pick right after the Bengals.
“I was like, ‘I don’t know anything about Cincinnati and they’re not that good right now," Chase said on the show. "So, why don’t we just go to South Beach, right?’ I could just go sit on the beach and watch Ja’Marr on the team, right?”
Things obviously worked out for the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as Chase helped the Bengals make their first Super Bowl appearance in over 30 years.
Now, he's tracking toward a big-time contract extension after this coming season. All while earning more and more of a leadership role in the Bengals' locker room.
