Former Browns RB Kareem Hunt Could Soon Land in NFC East

A former Cleveland Browns running back could soon be finding a new home in the NFC East.

As the running back market continues to be pretty dry, former Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt could be on the verge of finding his next team. According to Josina Anderson, the Washington Commanders have made preliminary inquiries on Hunt.

Hunt played in all 17 games for the Browns last year and had 468 rushing yards but it came at just 3.8 yards per carry. In the passing game, Hunt added an additional 210 receiving yards, somewhere that he has always stood out.

Overall, Hunt spent four seasons with the Browns after being waived in his second season with the Kansas City Chiefs after a video surfaced of him kicking a woman. In his rookie year with the Chiefs, Hunt led the NFL in rushing with 1,327 yards. Hunt’s best year with the Browns came in 2020 when he recorded 841 yards on the ground and started five games.

Nick Chubb is one of the premier running backs in the league certainly was a knock to Hunt’s usage but last season the Toledo product looked to have lost a step. There’s a belief that is the reason the Browns looked to go in another direction with the backup running back job.

Since the incident, while he was with the Chiefs, Hunt seems to have turned things around. Besides a traffic stop, he’s stayed away from off-the-field problems. Now, it looks like the 27-year-old could be on the brink of finding his next team.
