Browns Sign Former Ravens Cornerback

Cleveland Browns have brought in a cornerback who last played for an AFC North rival.

Cleveland Browns made a transaction on Tuesday by signing CB Chris Westry, Browns Digest can confirm. Westry last played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2021 where he appeared in six games, starting two of those.

Westry was an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky in 2020. Westry got his first bit of NFL action with the Dallas Cowboys during the COVID-19 season of 2020, where he played in two games. Overall, Westry has been a practice squad player for the majority of his young career.

At 6-foot-4 and 199 pounds, the former Wildcat is a lengthy cornerback. He has played both special teams and on defense thus far.

Cleveland’s cornerback room should be just about set but Westry should have a shot to stick on the practice squad with the Browns. At the age of 25, Westry is still going to NFL standards, so this may be a case of the Browns seeing what’s there.

With Andrew Berry at the helm, the Browns continue to turn over every rock to see if anything is there. This is another part of that sequence.
