ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are designating edge rusher Myjai Sanders to return from injured reserve, according to the team:

"The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has designated linebacker Myjai Sanders to return from the injured reserve list. Sanders can begin practicing and the team can activate him to the 53-man roster at any time during the next 21 days or at the conclusion of the three-week period."

Sanders is currently in his second season with the Cardinals after being drafted as third-round pick in 2022. He was dealing with a hand injury that prevented him from playing in the team's first five games.

Arizona is currently 1-4 and will play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.

Last year, Sanders started in four of the 13 games he played in. He tallied three sacks.

He spoke with reporters after his first practice back with the team:

Now, he arrives to a Cardinals front seven that is tied for eighth in the NFL with 15 team sacks. Nine players in the desert have reached the passer with Dennis Gardeck's total of four leading the way.

Arizona has done a good job rotating their defensive front this season, which includes their edge rushers. Zaven Collins has played just 50% of snaps while Gardeck (42.5%), Victor Dimukeje (41.2%) and Cameron Thomas (38.1%) aren't far behind.

It will be interesting to see how the Cardinals integrate Sanders back in the mix. BJ Ojulari - Arizona's second-round pick this offseason - is another player to watch as the year continues.
