Detroit Lions Will First Wear 'Rivalries' Uniform Against Division Rival

The Detroit Lions will wear their "rivalry" uniform for the very first time against the Minnesota Vikings on November 1, 2026 at Ford Field.
While the design has yet to be released publicly, retiring team president Rod Wood expressed at the owners meeting he believes fans will be impressed.
“The NFL is home to some of the biggest football rivalries, and today marks a historical moment for the NFL as we share Rivalries with the world," Chief NFL Revenue Officer Renie Anderson said back in 2025. “Together with Nike, we are harnessing the power of rivalry matchups to bring fan excitement and community pride to the next level. Through specially designed player uniforms and limited-edition fan gear, we will embark on a journey that inspires competitive spirit and reveals the winner in all of us.
"Teams from the AFC South and NFC North will debut their Rivalries uniforms in 2026, followed by NFC East and AFC West teams in 2027, and teams from the AFC North and NFC South in 2028."
It is believed the official design of the uniform will be revealed on August 25, 2026.
Preseason television announce team revealed
Earlier this week, the team officially announced that play-by-play voice Jason Benetti will again be joined by analyst T.J. Lang to call Detroit Lions preseason games on television. Patti Cesarini is joining the team as a sideline reporter for the preseason.
Jack Kizer who serve as a fill-in against the Cincinnati Bengals, as Benetti has other duties during the baseball regular season.
According to the team, "the crew will broadcast three preseason games locally on Fox 2 Detroit (WJBK) and throughout the Detroit Lions television network."
2026 Lions preseason broadcast schedule
1.) Thursday, August 13, 2026 (7 PM ET): Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals | (Play-by-play (Kizer), Analyst (Lang), Sideline (Cesarini).
2.) Saturday, August 22, 2026 (12 PM ET): Detroit Lions vs. Washington Commanders | (Play-by-play (Benetti), Analyst (Lang) Sideline, Cesarini).
3.) Saturday, August 29, 2026 (1 PM ET): Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts | (Play-by-play (Benetti), Analyst (Lang), Sideline (Cesarini).
