Saints Announce Coaching Staff Additions

In this story:
The Saints announced five official additions to Dennis Allen's coaching staff on Wednesday. All were previously reported to be joining New Orleans.
New Saints Coaches for 2023
- Joe Woods, Defensive Coordinator
- Todd Grantham, Defensive Line
- Marcus Robertson, Secondary
- Clancy Barone, Tight Ends
- Kevin Carberry, Offensive Line Assistant
John DeShazier, the Saints' Senior Writer, was able to catch up with Allen regarding the moves.
Allen said, "The No. 1 thing was, as I was looking to make some changes on the staff, I wanted guys that I knew exactly what I was getting, I had familiarity with these coaches, and they're all really good coaches."
Allen is going to need each of these coaches performing their duties at a high level going into the new league year, as the Saints are in desperate need of turning the ship around after missing the playoffs for the past two seasons. Their track history is certainly promising, but they each have big shoes to fill from previous departures.
The team remains in the hunt for quarterback Derek Carr, who became a free agent on Tuesday afternoon. If New Orleans can solve for their QB situation, it'll go a long way in their quest to retake the NFC South.

I officially started covering the New Orleans Saints & other NFL topics in 2011. My work has been featured on various outlets over the years. I worked closely with Skyhorse Publishing in Fall 2018 to update the book, Tales From the New Orleans Saints Sidelines, which filled in all Saints material from the 2013-2017 seasons. Prior to joining Saints News Network, I served as the Managing Editor of SB Nation's Canal Street Chronicles for 3.5 years, and before that with FanSided's Who Dat Dish as the Managing Editor for several years. I have also had experiences of being a freelance Saints reporter for The Sun Herald in Biloxi, MS and a contributing writer for WDSU, a local NBC TV station in New Orleans. I have appeared on a vast amount of TV and Radio shows, both nationally and locally. For tips, comments, or suggestions, please contact me at johnhendrix@saintsnews.net
