The Saints are closing in on another coach for their 2023 staff. According to NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill, the team is close to adding Clancy Barone to coach their tight end group.

Barone and Dennis Allen were on the Broncos together in 2011, as well as the Falcons in 2004 and 2005. He was also a coach at Texas A&M while Allen played there. Barone was most recently the tight ends coach for the Bears from 2020-2021. He's been around the NFL since 2004, serving as both a tight ends and offensive line coach with various clubs.

If you're keeping tally, Barone would join Marcus Robertson, Joe Woods, and Todd Grantham as the new additions for the Saints going into the new season. New Orleans lost Zach Strief to the Broncos, Ryan Nielsen to the Falcons, and parted ways with Kris Richard. Cory Robinson, a defensive assistant and secondary coach, had his contract expire and is a free agent.

Speaking of Denver, Sean Payton was also interviewing Ronald Curry and Declan Doyle for potential jobs. We'll see how everything pans out for the Saints, but one coach who isn't leaving is Kevin Petry, who has risen up the ranks quite fast on the offensive side of the ball.
