4 Seattle Seahawks Who Need a Strong Preseason Debut vs. Dallas Cowboys

These four Seattle Seahawks need to stand out vs. the Cowboys as they fight for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Football is back. The Seattle Seahawks will kick off their preseason this weekend as they host the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.

It would be surprising to see either team play their starters much, if at all, in the first exhibition game. Coaches and players have often stated they get more from joint practices and the Seahawks have one scheduled later this month against the Tennessee Titans.

As for this weekend, there will still be plenty to keep an eye on as players on the roster bubble fight for a spot. That being the case, here is a look at four Seahawks who need to stand out vs. Dallas.

Brandon Pili, DT

The Seahawks have a strong defensive line, which is where their defensive dominance begins. They have star players such as Byron Murphy, Leonard Williams, and Jarran Reed who have their spots locked in. There's also Rylie Mills, who has had a strong camp and rookie Deven Eastern has promise as well. That has Brandon Pili fighting for a roster spot, and he can use a good showing on Saturday to put himself on the right side of the bubble.

Emanuel Wilson, RB

With Zach Charbonnet out, rookie Jadarian Price is set for the RB1 role. Behind him, George Holani has made a strong case for the RB2 spot but Emanuel Wilson shouldn't be overlooked. The former Green Bay Packer averages 4.5 yards per attempt for his career and could be a key piece of the offensive puzzle, but first he has to earn his spot behind Price.

Nehemiah Pritchett, CB

Nehemiah Pritchett has a chance to earn a significant role in what Michael Hanich called a "boom-or-bust" season for the third-year pro. Before worrying about the "boom," Pritchett first has to secure a spot on the roster. Saturday will give him a great chance to prove himself against a Dallas team that's rather deep at wide receiver (even with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens not expected to play).

Jalen Milroe, QB

A third-round pick out of Alabama last year, Jalen Milroe was a camp star. His athleticism had fans excited and there was talk of Seattle creating packages to get him involved in the offense. Not much came of this as Milroe appeared in just three games and had four yards on three rushing attempts.

This year, Milroe is again battling for the QB2 spot, but Seahawks On SI's Jeremy Brener says Drew Lock is currently leading the way. Milroe has time to catch up and can gain plenty of ground by showing out against the Cowboys.
