Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers Injured in Final Training Camp Practice

In this story:
On the last day of training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers had another injury scare at quarterback.
During Tuesday's practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., Aaron Rodgers was injured after his left foot/ankle were stepped on by offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, who faced pressure from the defensive line and was pushed into the four-time MVP.

The 41-year-old remained at quarterback for an additional 11-on-11 rep after the situation occurred, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor, and he was seen massaging his calf on and off.
Rodgers appears to have a cut on his shin as a result, and team trainers initially taped a big bag of ice around the affected area.
Pryor added that the ice was removed shortly after it was applied in favor of a "bandage-like" wrap. It seems that Rodgers was moving around well while also continuing to stretch out his calf during individual drills, though Pryor noted that he didn't appear as "fluid" while throwing.

Rodgers did return for the subsequent team drill, however, which should mellow any concerns regarding his condition.
The Steelers already saw rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard go down with a hand injury last week, which kept him out of the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and a second injury for one of their quarterbacks is simply not a good scenario.
The fact that Rodgers is participating in drills and moving around to some extent is a positive sign with under a month to go before the Steelers travel to MetLife Stadium and take on his former team, the New York Jets, in Week 1 of the regular season.
Pittsburgh ended a pursuit that lasted nearly three months by signing Rodgers to a one-year contract in June. The deal is worth a base value of $13.65 million, and $10 million of that money is guaranteed. The contract has a maximum value of $19.5 million, meaning that there's up to $5.85 million in playtime and team performance incentives included.
Rodgers was perhaps the headline addition in an offseason full of them, and the Steelers are certainly hoping that his injury is nothing more than a minor cut or bruise.
