Kalshi bonuses and promotions

Kalshi predictions has one of the most straightforward prediction market promos. Kalshi World Cup contest

Kalshi is running a $1 million contest where you predict the winner of the Kalshi World Cup contest. Pick correctly, and you'll split the prize pool with other right callers. Entries close June 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM ET, and all eligible entrants are automatically entered to win two tickets to the Final via the World Cup prediction market apps. Not available in New York or Florida.

Kalshi Volume Incentive Program

The Kalshi Volume Incentive Program is a cashback system that rewards you based on trading activity. The more you trade in eligible markets, the bigger your share of the reward pool. It runs through Sept. 1, 2026, and is open to most U.S. members, excluding international users, affiliates, and existing market makers.

Kalshi Liquidity Incentive Program

The Kalshi Liquidity Incentive Program pays you for placing resting orders that help other traders get better prices, even if your orders go unfilled. Daily rewards range from $10 to $1,000, and the program runs through Sept. 1, 2026. Eligibility mirrors the Volume Incentive Program β€” open to most U.S. members, closed to international users, and existing market maker agreement holders.

How Kalshi works

Kalshi is a federally regulated prediction market where you buy and sell contracts with binary outcomes tied to real-world outcomes: sports results, elections, economic data, you name it. Each contract is a simple yes/no question, and the price tells you what the crowd thinks.

Unlike a sportsbook, Kalshi doesn't set the odds or take the other side of your trade. You're trading directly with other users in a peer-to-peer marketplace. Prices move the same way stock prices do: based on what people are willing to pay.

Contract prices 101

Every contract on Kalshi is worth either $0 or $1 when the event settles. The price before settlement (anywhere from $0.01 to $0.99) reflects the market's implied probability and the value of the outcome ('Yes' or 'No') as the event is in progress.

  • A 'Yes' contract priced at $0.70 = the market gives it a 70% chance of happening
  • The 'No' side is always the complement: roughly $0.30 or a 30% chance of happening
  • Winning contracts pay out $1.
  • A contract that is on the wrong side of an outcome gets paid out $0 (effectively nothing).

Your profit is the gap between your purchase price and that $1 payout, minus any fees, which tend to be very low.

Example image of buying a contract.

A real example:

Say you bought 100 'Yes' contracts on the Celtics at $0.70 each. That's $70 out of pocket. The Celtics win, each contract settles at $1.00, and you get $100 back. Profit is $30, minus any applicable fees.

Had the Celtics lost, those contracts expire worthless and you're out the $70.

Kalshi market coverage

πŸ† Sports

Kalshi predictions offer sports markets covering championship outcomes, playoff runs, and season-long team accomplishments. You can trade on things like which team wins the NBA Finals or whether a specific NFL team makes the playoffs. Coverage is broader than most prediction markets but more limited than a traditional sportsbook, and note that sports markets may be restricted in some states due to varying regulatory interpretations.

πŸ›οΈ Politics

Politics is one of Kalshi's strongest categories, with contracts tied to elections, legislative decisions, and government actions at the federal and state levels. Real examples include markets on which party controls the Senate after an election or whether a specific bill passes Congress. This is where Kalshi truly differentiates itself from competitors.

🎬 Culture and entertainment

Kalshi predictions covers cultural milestones and entertainment events, letting you trade on outcomes such as who wins a major award show or whether a specific film crosses a box-office threshold. Markets in this category tend to generate strong activity around major events like the Oscars or major music releases.

πŸ“ˆ Economics and finance

Economic indicators are a core part of Kalshi's offerings, with markets reacting to events like Fed interest rate decisions and monthly jobs reports. These contracts appeal to traders who follow macroeconomic data closely and want to put real money behind their forecasts.

β‚Ώ Crypto

Kalshi offers crypto-linked prediction markets focused on price milestones and broader market events, for example, whether Bitcoin crosses a specific price threshold by a set date. It's worth noting that Kalshi's crypto markets are distinct from crypto-native platforms like Polymarket. On Kalshi, you trade and operate in USD, and its platform is regulated by the CFTC.

🌦️ Climate and weather

Kalshi's climate and weather markets let you trade on measurable environmental outcomes, such as whether a named hurricane makes landfall or whether a city such as Los Angeles records above-average temperatures in a given month. These markets are resolved using verified data from official sources, keeping outcomes objective and transparent.

Kalshi app experience

The Kalshi app is the best mobile experience of any prediction market app I've used. Whether I'm checking overnight political market movements or placing a quick trade on an economic data release, everything I need is just a couple of taps away. It's one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Kalshi over other prediction market apps.

🎨 Design and usability

The interface is clean without feeling stripped down, with clear and sleek graphics. Markets are clearly labeled with contract pricing front and center, and I never found myself hunting for information that should be obvious. Placing a trade takes at most three taps, and switching between categories like sports, politics, and economics is seamless. For a platform that covers this many market types, the navigation stays remarkably uncluttered.

⚑Performance

The app holds up well during high-traffic moments, which matters when prices are moving fast. I've used it during Fed rate announcements and live sports events without running into lag or loading issues. Position updates and account balances reflect in real time, so I'm never second-guessing whether my trades have gone through.

⭐ App Store and Google Play ratings

Platform Rating Reviews
App Store ⭐ 4.8/5 140,338
Google Play ⭐ 4.7/5 30,018

Those numbers across that volume of feedback are a strong signal that the app consistently delivers for a wide range of users, not just power traders.

πŸ”§ What could be improved

The one area where the app falls short is depth on individual market pages. When I want more context on a specific contract, things like historical pricing or volume data, I sometimes have to dig or switch to desktop to get the full picture. It's a minor friction point on an otherwise polished product, but worth noting for traders who like doing thorough research before entering a position.

Kalshi contract pricing and fees

One area where Kalshi stands out from competitors is fee transparency. Rather than burying costs inside adjusted odds like a traditional sportsbook, Kalshi shows you exactly what you're paying before you confirm a trade.

Once you understand how the structure works, it's actually straightforward.

Maker vs. taker fees

The key distinction is how your order gets filled. If you place an order that gets matched immediately against existing liquidity, you're a taker and pay a higher fee.

If your order sits on the book and waits to be matched by someone else, you're a maker and pay a lower fee.

Makers are rewarded for adding liquidity to the market, which is why the difference exists.

Fees broken down

Fees vary based on contract price and scale toward the middle of the range. A contract priced near $0.50 carries the highest fee because the outcome is most uncertain. Contracts priced near the extremes, closer to $0.01 or $0.99, carry lower fees because the market has already largely priced in the result.

Contract price Taker fee (per contract) Maker fee (per contract)
Near $0.01 or $0.99 ~$0.07 ~$0.02
Near $0.25 or $0.75 ~$0.90 ~$0.22
Near $0.50 ~$1.75 ~$0.44

What this means in practice

If you're trading frequently on contested markets priced near $0.50, fees add up faster than they would on contracts with more lopsided odds. Active traders who place limit orders rather than market orders can reduce costs meaningfully by qualifying for maker rates. It's a detail most platforms gloss over, but one worth understanding before you start trading at volume.

Kalshi payments and payout speed

Kalshi supports several payment methods, with fast processing for both deposits and withdrawals; most options settle within 30 minutes.

Payment method  Minimum deposit  Deposit speed  Minimum withdrawal  Withdrawal speed
Debit card $10 Instant $10  Within 30 mins
Online banking  $10 Instant $10  Within 30 mins
Wire transfer $1,000 Instant N/A N/A
Crypto (USDC) $10 Instant $10 Within 30 mins

Kalshi platform features

πŸ“ˆ Live trading

Kalshi lets you trade contracts while an event is still in progress, not just before it starts. If new information breaks mid-game or a political development shifts the odds, you can react in real time, adjust your exposure, or close out a position early.

πŸ“Š Order book and price history

Unlike most prediction market platforms, Kalshi gives you visibility into the order book so you can see where liquidity is sitting before you place a trade. Price history is also available on individual markets, letting you track how sentiment has shifted over time and make more informed entry decisions.

πŸšͺ Early exit

You're never locked into a position on Kalshi. If a contract is moving against you or you want to bank a profit before settlement, you can sell out of your position at the current market price at any time. It's a feature that adds a meaningful layer of risk control that casual traders and active ones alike will appreciate.

πŸ”— Kalshi Combos

Kalshi Combos work similarly to a parlay, letting you bundle multiple event outcomes into a single trade. Each leg needs to resolve in your favor for the full payout, but partial resolutions are factored into the final settlement. A built-in combo builder in the app makes assembling and submitting these trades quick and intuitive.

πŸ”„ Perpetual futures

Kalshi is the first U.S. exchange to offer CFTC-regulated perpetual futures contracts. Unlike standard futures, perps have no expiration date; you take a long or short position on an asset's price and hold it as long as you want, with no contract rollovers required. A funding rate mechanism keeps the contract price anchored to the spot market, and Kalshi currently offers a Bitcoin perpetual with more cryptocurrencies on the way.

Kalshi security and licensing

CFTC regulation and DCM status

Kalshi operates as a Designated Contract Market regulated by the CFTC, placing it in the same regulatory tier as established commodity exchanges such as CME Group. Every market on the platform is subject to federal oversight with clear rules governing how contracts are listed, priced, and settled.

Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and data security

Kalshi enforces KYC and AML protocols as part of account setup before you can deposit or trade. The platform uses SSL encryption and holds SOC 2 Type II compliance, an independent certification verifying that Kalshi meets institutional standards for protecting user data.

Banking and custody partners

Kalshi uses Plaid to securely connect bank accounts, keeping your credentials encrypted and never visible to Kalshi. For crypto deposits, Coinbase Custody safeguards all USDC holdings at an institutional level.

State availability

The legal landscape for prediction markets is still evolving. Nevada courts have issued an injunction blocking Kalshi sports, election, and entertainment contracts in the state, and Maryland continues enforcement efforts against sports markets. New Jersey users are currently clear following a federal appeals court ruling in Kalshi's favor.

Note: Kalshi is legal in every state outside of Nevada, but if you're in a state where sports betting is restricted, you can view our pages below for more information.

Kalshi customer support

Kalshi covers the basics across several support channels, though it's worth knowing upfront that live chat is not available 24/7 and may require a funded account to access. For most common questions around verification, deposits, and contract settlement, the help center is a solid first stop before reaching out directly.

The absence of 24/7 live support is one of the platform's notable gaps, particularly for active traders who may need help outside business hours. That said, the email and phone options provide a fallback, and Kalshi's Discord community is useful for getting quick answers from other experienced users.

Kalshi review conclusion

Kalshi earns a firm recommendation as the go-to prediction market platform for trading event contracts on sports, politics, economics, and more. Having tested it firsthand across all major market categories, I can say that the CFTC regulation, polished mobile app, and diverse market coverage make it easy to recommend at any experience level.

The welcome bonus is modest, and live chat hours are limited, but neither is a dealbreaker. In my experience, the platform delivers consistently whether I'm casually browsing markets or actively managing multiple positions.

Best mobile experience

Mobile user experience is where Kalshi truly excels, as the Kalshi app is the best in the prediction market space. Markets are clearly labeled, trades take a few taps to place, and the app holds up without lag even during high-volume events like Fed announcements or live sports.

With a 4.7/5 rating across well over 100,000 reviews on both the App Store and Google Play, the user feedback matches my own experience exactly.

Diverse market coverage

No other regulated platform comes close to Kalshi's range of tradable markets. They've become a clear leader in sports offerings for prediction platforms, especially with their free $1M World Cup contest, but excel elsewhere as well. From NFL playoff outcomes to Fed rate decisions, to Oscar winners and Bitcoin price milestones, the breadth of what you can trade on Kalshi predictions is a genuine differentiator. It's the platform I reach for when I want to put real money behind a strong conviction on almost any topic.

Easiest platform to get started on

Compared to other prediction market platforms, getting started on Kalshi is remarkably straightforward. There's no crypto wallet to set up, no complex onboarding, and no technical knowledge required. I had my account funded in USD and placed my first trade within minutes of signing up. For anyone coming from a traditional sportsbook background or trying prediction markets for the first time, Kalshi removes every barrier that might otherwise slow you down.
