Well this is hilarious. Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins apparently has a vendetta against the San Francisco 49ers.

In an interview with GQ, Hopkins listed the 49ers as one of the four teams (Cowboys, Giants, and Lions) who he reached out to when he was a free agent. Unfortunately for him, the 49ers did not respond and reach back to him. The 49ers essentially left him on "read" and now Hopkins is looking to make them pay.

“I’m very grateful for where I am, I think I made the best decision,” said Hopkins. “But when you’re a player and some people feel like they’re great without you, and then you see what they have on paper, or you see what they do, you mark those games down, as a competitor. I can’t wait to play’ em and, honestly, try my best to crush they a--.”

First of all, the 49ers do not even play the Titans this year. He's going to have to hope that the 49ers "regret" with him from afar (they won't). The 49ers are definitely a great team without Hopkins and never needed him. But he has to live in reality. He acts like the 49ers could've afforded his high price. He signed with the Titans on a two-year deal worth $26 million with a chance to make $32 million. It's one that the Titans were willing to pay since they are desperate at wide receiver.

The 49ers are not desperate at the position for a former elite receiver who is on the back end of his career. So unless Hopkins can play right tackle, the most glaring weakness on the 49ers offense, then he was never getting glanced at. I can't say I blame Hopkins for reaching out. The 49ers are one of the best teams in the league, so of course he would like to be part of a winning team who has a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl.

The thing is, if winning was actually what he wanted, which is what he claimed initially when he became a free agent, then he would've taken a discount to sign with a playoff caliber team. There's nothing wrong with Hopkins choosing the higher value deal. It's likely the last time he will sign for over $10 million per year. By all means, get your money if you're Hopkins. But for him to feel slighted while ignoring this fact is just outright hilarious, which makes his "vendetta" ridiculous.
