CINCINNATI — The NFL has passed the Thursday proposal for a new playoff format.

All 32 team owners met on Friday afternoon to discuss the changes that need to be made following the Bengals-Bills cancellation.

Cincinnati now has to beat Baltimore on Sunday to secure a home playoff game, even though they're AFC North Champions.

If the Bengals lose to the Ravens and face Baltimore in the Wild Card round, home-field advantage would be determined by a coin toss.

Here is how the AFC Championship will play out based on Week 18's results:

• If BUF and KC win this weekend, a BUF/KC AFC title game would be at a neutral site.

• If BUF and KC lose, and CIN loses or ties, a BUF/KC AFC title game would be at a neutral site.

• If BUF and KC lose and CIN wins, a BUF or CIN/KC would be at a neutral site.

Bengals Executive Vice President Katie Blackburn stated her case on Thursday, in hopes of convincing nine of the 32 owners to vote against the proposal.

They chose not to, and the new format is now set. According to Mike Florio, 25 owners voted yes, 3-4 owners voted no and the rest abstained.

The Bengals and Ravens clash at 1 p.m. ET this Sunday on CBS. Watch via fuboTV—start your free trial here.
