Odell Beckham Jr.‘s Reasoning for Signing With the Ravens was Clear
Despite a report that it was not about the money, it looks like it indeed was for Odell Beckham Jr. landing with the Baltimore Ravens.
According to a report, Beckham went to the New York Jets and gave them a chance to match the offer he received from the Ravens, signaling one of two things. Either Beckham wanted to maximize his value in free agency, or he wanted to be with the Jets all along. Both of those things involve Beckham chasing the money.
It was a surprise to many when Beckham signed a deal worth up to $18 million over one year with the Ravens. $15 million of that is guaranteed, which is the surprising part for a player coming off of another ACL injury.
You only have so many years in the NFL, so there’s nothing wrong with chasing the bag. But let’s call it what it is at the end of the day. Beckham did not go where he felt he “belonged”, he went to the team who offered him the biggest bag.
Now, the Cleveland Browns will gear up to face a familiar face twice a year. The storyline will write itself each of those times.
