Cowboys Release Former Browns WR Following Arrest
Following his arrest in Miami recently, former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway is now out of a job. Callaway had a warrant for driving with a suspended license when he was arrested, per a report. Now, the Dallas Cowboys have cut the troubled football player they’ve announced.
Callaway spent much of last season with the Cowboys practice squad but never appeared in a game. The Cowboys signed him to a futures contract, which means they liked the upside of him if he can manage to keep on the right road. That did not happen and it resulted in his release.
By no way is this the first hiccup in Callaway’s professional career, it dates back to his time with the Florida Gators. Callaway was drafted by Cleveland in 2018 and was a standout rookie with 586 receiving yards but played in just four games in 2019 due to disciplinary reasons.
Callaway hasn’t played in the NFL since a brief showing with the Miami Dolphins in 2020 and now time will tell if this does it for his NFL career.
