DT Dre'Mont Jones Excited About Browns Interest in him, Possibility of Playing With Myles Garrett

Cleveland Browns are reportedly interested in Dre'Mont Jones, a Cleveland native that is excited about that possibility.

Cleveland could be bringing a local product back home when free agency opens up tomorrow. Free agent defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones is dimly on the Browns' radar, according to multiple reports. In an interview with Cleveland Dot Com, Jones opened up about the possibility of coming back home.

"It’s really exciting,” Jones said via Cleveland Dot Com. “It’s an honor to have your hometown team be interested in you. So that alone, I appreciate it.”

Jones played his high school football at Saint Ignatius High School, which is less than two miles from First Energy Stadium in Cleveland. Jones went on to play for Ohio State, then was the 71st pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2019 NFL Draft.

"I’ve been a Browns fan all of my life, since zero up until I got to college."

Over his first four seasons in the NFL, Jones is averaging 5.5 sacks per season. He totaled 6.5 last season to go along with 47 tackles and nine tackles for a loss.

While in Denver, Jones has played with some pretty talented edge rushers in Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. Coming to Cleveland, he'd have a chance to add another to that list.

“I’ve only seen and heard good things about him on and off the field, so that’d be cool to have. I’ve been around some good players so it wouldn’t be anything new," Jones said via Cleveland Dot Com.

I’m used to star players. My goal is to make not only my job easier, but their job easier too, especially (Garrett). He’ll probably have all the spotlight, the attention when it comes to game planning. So if I’m there, my job would be to load the pressure off.”

Jones is expected to receive $16 million plus per year in free agency. If the Browns want to bring him in, they're going to have to pay up.
