The 2025 NFL draft is only a month away and the Seattle Seahawks have some business to handle following a wild start to free agency. The team replaced Geno Smith with Sam Darnold at quarterback, but Seattle must continue to build the trenches to have a shot at getting to the playoffs in 2025.

The Seahawks have mostly targeted offensive linemen and wide receivers in post-free agency mock drafts. NFL analysts understand this team needs to build around Darnold if he's going to replicate his incredible 2024 success.

Let's not forget about the defense, though. Pro Football Network released a two-round mock draft that projects the Seahawks to land Ohio State offensive lineman Josh Simmons at pick No. 15 before landing a potential first-round defensive talent in Round 2.

"The Seattle Seahawks need to find ways to protect Sam Darnold and fast," Marco Enriquez wrote about his decision to pick Simmons. "They’ve been one of the most active teams this offseason, moving on from both Geno Smith and DK Metcalf. Bringing in Darnold could work for Seattle, but he has historically struggled under pressure."

The Seahawks were then projected to take Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant with the 50th overall pick in PFN's mock. Adding another stud to Seattle's defensive front is a nice thought, and fits with the idea of reinforcing the trenches.

The team would probably have trouble passing on Grant if he falls into their laps in Round 2. The big defensive tackle is ranked 17th on Pro Football Focus' 2025 big board.

"Grant has ideal size for the nose tackle position, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing nearly 340 pounds," PFF wrote in Grant's 2025 scouting report. "He also possesses rare quickness for his size. That quickness flashes in pure pass-rush situations and when shooting gaps."

Even with three quality starters up front, adding another dominant interior lineman to the rotation would only make this group better.
