Major Outlet Names Defensive Position Group Bengals Should Address

A veteran could make things transition easier with this group.

CINCINNATI — The moving and shaking of the NFL offseason is largely over but PFF's Gordon McGuinness has one spot Cincinnati should add depth: Cornerback.

Veteran Stephon Gilmore is still on the market, although he might not jump at the Bengals unless there's a clear starting path or the money is right.

"The Bengals did well to address their biggest needs early in free agency before backing those additions up in the draft," McGuinness wrote. "The team is now without many glaring roster holes. Cincinnati lost veteran cornerback Chidobe Awuzie in free agency and will now rely on the continued emergence of Cam Taylor-Britt, who earned a 70.3 PFF coverage grade in 2023, and DJ Turner, who earned a 48.4 PFF coverage grade last season. A veteran addition at outside cornerback would be wise."

Turner is the question mark from this position group entering the summer months as Cincinnati also sees what it has in Dax Hill at cornerback. Although, Hill's really only played extensive time at slot corner in college and beyond (35 career outside snaps at Michigan, 49 with the Bengals).

Outside of those three, Cincinnati has Josh Newton, D.J. Ivey, and George Allan to rely on surrounding Mike Hilton in the slot.
