Spencer Brown Reveals Must-Have Breakfast Items for Bills' Starting Tackle

When speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the massive young lineman had many interesting things to say, but none were more interesting than his current peculiar breakfast habit.

Despite what modern medicine and science might tell athletes—and non-athletes—these days, for generations it’s been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Wheaties made an empire off that idea: “the breakfast of champions.”

And, much to the annoyance of children across the country, mothers have consistently been heard saying, “You can’t skip breakfast!”, for many years.

In addition to that, nutritionists have also always insisted that people must pump the protein, which means that they should start each morning with items such as eggs, yogurt, and a choice of bacon or sausage, while also supplementing with whole-grain products like oatmeal and toast.

It was always the golden rule.

And, to some extent, those are all still fairly decent options to choose from, as long as everything is in moderation, of course.

Don’t forget the coffee, too, while you’re at it.

But, what about two Cool Mint Zyns to top it off?

Well, for current Buffalo Bills’ starting right tackle Spencer Brown, that’s the perfect way to start his day: whether it be at home or at the facilities at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park, New York.

“Dale makes me a burrito every single day,” Bills’ veteran offensive lineman Spencer Brown said when recently talking to the media following Tuesday’s practice ahead of the team’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers in Western New York this weekend.

“Two yogurt parfaits . . . with a bunch of blueberries, an orange juice, a milk, two slices of sourdough toast with grape jelly, and top it off with a coffee. And, then two Cool Mint Zyns.”

At the end, Brown jokingly emphasized the importance of having the two specifically flavored tobacco-free oral nicotine pouches, but maybe he’s on to something.

Like in the famous movie “Space Jam” with former NBA legend Michael Jordan—if you can follow this reference—maybe Buffalo’s 6-foot-8, 311-pound former third-round pick has found his “secret stuff.”

Brown has become consistent fixture on Buffalo’s O-line

Instead of it coming in a sports drink like it did for Jordan in the movie, though, Brown’s special elixir just so happens to come inside of a conveniently discreet tiny white pouch that he can slide behind his lip after—hopefully, of course—finishing his coffee first.

All joking aside, though, the one-time Northern Iowa standout has clearly found his stride since entering the league as a somewhat unknown commodity in 2021.

The 28-year-old Lenox, Iowa, native has since started 69 of 73 regular-season games and 11 postseason contests according to Pro Football Reference.

And, heading into his sixth NFL season, the behemoth lineman appears more motivated than ever to have his best professional year yet.

Apparently, Zyns after a giant breakfast are just all a part of the plan of attack this offseason for him.

Fans will soon see if Brown’s current morning routine pays dividends moving forward.

Kickoff for Saturday afternoon’s preseason opener for the Bills is slated to take place at the new $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium in Buffalo’s southeastern suburb on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET.
