Report: Browns Agree to Terms with DT Siaki Ika

Cleveland Browns have inked their newly drafted defensive tackle ahead of rookie minicamp.

Ahead of the rookie minicamp, the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with one of their third-round picks, DT Siaki Ika. According to Brad Stainbrook of The OBR, Ika and the Browns have agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract.

Ika is a gap-plugging run-stopper that is going to have a defined role in Jim Schwartz's defense. Cleveland's newest defensive tackle is a giant at 6-foot-4 and 350 pounds. Ika joins a defensive tackle room that was essentially overhauled this off-season. The Browns went out and added Dalvin Tomlinson, Maurice Hurst, and Trysten Hill in free agency, before drafting Ika.

Jim Schwartz was excited when the Browns made the pick, perhaps he will be delighted when the on-field results come about.

lYou play the game the way it should be played, so we're real excited to have you here," Schwartz said. "You're not a dump truck anymore now, Apu. You're a Ferrari."

Following the draft, GM Andrew Berry explained what Schwartz meant by that line.

"It means that he no longer has the two gap," Berry said. "He just has to get up the field and disrupt, get off the ball, as opposed to just build a stone wall and hold up the offensive line."
