Browns Select OT Dawand Jones at No. 111 in the 2023 NFL Draft
Cleveland started day three of the NFL Draft by going down to Columbus and selecting Ohio State OT Dawand Jones. Jones started every game for Ohio State last season.
Jones was seen as an earlier-round prospect but has fallen due to some concerns about weight and his effort toward football. But the Buckeye product brings rare size with the ability to move, he stands out as a mauler in the run game. Being a productive blocker in the run game likely made him attractive to the Browns, despite where their offense is trending.
At 6-foot-8 and 375 pounds with an 88-inch wing span, Jones is as big as it gets in the NFL. He has a basketball background, just an example of the athleticism he brings to the field.
Now, the Browns have Jedrick Wills Jr., Jack Conklin, James Hudson, and Joe Haag at tackle to join Jones. Playing right tackle in college and that figures to be the future route for Jones.
Yesterday, the Browns started their draft by selecting WR Cedric Tillman and DT Siaki Ika in the third round. Today they grab an offensive line piece to start things.
