Browns Select CB Cam Mitchell at No. 142 in the 2023 NFL Draft

Cleveland Browns make their second selection in the matter of a couple of picks.

Another Northwestern cornerback is joining the Cleveland Browns. With pick No. 142 in the 2023 NFL Draft, Cleveland opted to select Northwestern CB Cameron Mitchell. Just two picks ago the Browns went with UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Mitchell played in 22 games over the last two years as a member of the Wildcats and recorded one interception and 14 passes defended. As a senior, Mitchell made 52 tackles (2.5 loss), a sack, and nine passes defended.

This cornerback brings pretty good ball skills to the field. He’s not scared to play around the line of scrimmage and moves well, he’s fluid. Mitchell runs a 4.47 40-yard dash at 5-foot-11 and 191 pounds. Mitchell can give the Browns options in the slot, as well as the ability to play on special teams.

As injuries have shown, you can’t have too many cornerbacks. Cleveland now has Mitchell joining Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson Jr., Newsome, Mike Ford, and Thomas Graham Jr.

On the day, Cleveland is scheduled to make two more selections. One in the sixth and seventh rounds each.
