Report: Cleveland Browns Hosting Free Agent Tight End
Cleveland Browns are hosting a talented tight end coming off of a career year for a free agency visit. According to NFL Network, Jordan Akins formally of the Houston Texans, is visiting with the Browns today.
Akins is coming off of a season where he tallied 495 receiving yards and five touchdowns, both were career-high numbers. Akins is a former teammate of Deshaun Watson, he's been with Houston since being a third-round draft pick in 2018.
In 73 games, Akins has 1,755 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The 30-year-old has gone over 400 yards in three of his five seasons. If the Browns were to sign Akins, he would likely battle Harrison Bryant for the team's second tight end option. Perhaps the team could opt to roll with Akins and David Njoku.
It looks like the Browns could be making the signing of a player that has some familiarity with Watson. Cleveland continues to turn over blocks to find a way to become the offense they want to.
