The Los Angeles Chargers and Jim Harbaugh have some tough decisions to make while forming a final 53-man roster before the NFL deadline on Tuesday. 

Harbaugh enters Year 2 of a major roster overhaul looking to keep the momentum surging after last year’s unexpected playoff appearance. 

Like the rest of the NFL, Harbaugh and the Chagers have until Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET to reach the 53-man roster limit.

Chargers moved the following players to injured reserve:

  • LS Josh Harris (IR return)
  • DB Deane Leonard (IR return)

The Chargers released the following players with injury settlements:

The Chargers released two running backs during final cuts, per reports:

  • Raheim Sanders

Chargers release OT David Sharpe

According to ESPN's Kris Rhim, the Chargers let offensive tackle David Sharpe go, thinning the competition for backup spots.

Chargers release WR Brenden Rice

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Chargers trimmed one of the toughest to figure out spots first by letting go of Rice, who could still land back on the practice squad.

2025 NFL final roster cut deadlines

The NFL requires teams to trim their 90-man roster down to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 26. 

Players with less than four accrued seasons will go to waivers, while those with more than four will head right to free agency. The waiver wire opens on Wednesday, August 27, along with the formulation of 16-player practice squads.
