Chargers aren’t on dream draft target’s top-30 visit list…yet

The Los Angeles Chargers, at least for now, won’t get a top-30 visit from Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Jeanty, who has already said he doesn’t think he’ll fall to the Chargers during the 2025 NFL draft, is one of the top possible fits for Justin Herbert’s offense in the first round.

There are, after all, even mock drafts that have the Chargers aggressively trading up to pick Jeanty.

But right now, Jeanty only has two known major top-30 visits lined up. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, those lucky teams are the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

The 2024 Maxwell Award winner, first-team All-American and Heisman hopeful just posted 374 carries for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns last season, further cementing his status as an every-down pro and possible best back in class.

Whether the Chargers want to spend a first-round pick – or even more via trade up – on a running back is hard to say. But it’s impossible to deny Jeanty’s talent and likely fit in the offense on a Jim Harbaugh team.

Speaking of which, Harbaugh isn’t guaranteed to get J.K. Dobbins back in free agency and Gus Edwards could be a cut candidate on the final year of his contract, so the position might be on its way to a big change.

So far, though, reports of visits don’t hint that Jeanty will be part of it.
