Brandon Aubrey's Agent Throws Shade at Latest Dallas Cowboys Contract Rumors

In this story:
The Dallas Cowboys' contract talks have been a hot topic to kick off the NFL offseason, and it has ramped up in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine. The main focus, however, is not on star wide receiver George Pickens, who is expected to be franchise tagged, but instead on All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey.
There have been conflicting reports about the Aubrey negotiations, with reports that the team has offered to make him the highest-paid kicker in the league. Those were followed by claims that Aubrey denied the offer and is seeking a whopping $10 million per year.
Aubrey's wife, however, has denied the claims that are being floated to the public.
Now, Aubrey's agent is chiming in on the noise, and throwing some shade at the "misinformation" that has been shared during Combine Week. His agent, Todd France of Athletes First, shared a video from Indy outside of the "Jerry Bus," which belongs to Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
"The NFL combine…where misinformation spreads like wildfire," France captioned the video. "Looking forward to my meeting with the Cowboys on the bus."
Hopefully, the two sides will be able to agree to a deal and start a trend of getting deals done quickly, as they did with breakout star running back Javonte Williams a weekend ago.
The good news for the Cowboys, however, is that the team has the leverage, because if a long-term deal is not agreed on, Aubrey is a restricted free agent and the team can utilize a first- or second-round tender. That gives Dallas the ability to match any offer sheet or receive the corresponding draft pick from a team that wants to sign Aubrey away.
This would not only not allow Aubrey to walk for free, but would let the rest of the league deetermine his market value.

Since joining the NFL, Aubrey has earned All-Pro honors in three of his four seasons. He is also a three-time Pro Bowler and was the 2023 NFL scoring leader.
Last season, Aubrey converted 36-of-42 field goals, with a long of 64, and 47 of 48 extra point attempts. He finished the season with 155 total points.
