Throughout the month of June, Bill O'Brien and the Boston College staff have been on an incredible hot streak on the recruiting trail, adding 13 commitments to the 2026 class as official visit season comes to a close.

However, the program started off July on a bad foot, falling short of landing four-star defensive lineman Carter Goodman, who made his commitment to UCLA official on Thursday afternoon.

Standing at 6-foot-4, 260 lbs., Gooden is ranked as the No. 29 player at his position in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Mass., according to 247Sports' composite ranking. He is a relatively inexperienced prospect, having grown up in Canada, but truly began to shine in his junior season.

2024 saw the highly touted prospect finish with 49 tackles, 29 TFL's, 7.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was absolutely dominant for one of the top schools in the state of Mass., helping lead the Tabor Academy Seawolves to an 8-1 record.

Despite his inexperience, Gooden is extremely explosive off the ball and able to frequently find himself in the backfield before a play even fully develops.

As of now, Boston College holds 27 commitments for the upcoming class.
