CJ McCollum Reacts to Major Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis Trade News

In this story:
NBA superstars have been the subject of trade rumors in the past. Take Kobe Bryant, for example, who was almost traded to the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. While those trades never went through, they remain a big "what if" scenario in NBA history. Most of those massive trades remain hypothetical until tonight.
In perhaps the largest trade in NBA history, the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Utah Jazz have agreed to a three-team deal that will send multi-time First Team All-NBA guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a package centered around Anthony Davis. While many were skeptical to believe the trade at first, it has been confirmed around the association by multiple reports. Just like everyone else, New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum shared his initial reaction online.
I can’t tell what’s real and fake anymore on these apps. Luka really going to the lakers or nah ?

"I can’t tell what’s real and fake anymore on these apps. Luka really going to the lakers or nah ?" McCollum shared to his X account this evening. The president of the NBA's Player Association, McCollum was just as shocked as everyone else when he saw the jaw-dropping news.
Wow it’s real lol 😂 I’m going to sleep

As more details emerge, reports indicate that Dallas' willingness to move on from Doncic was influenced by their hesitancy to give him a supermax extension this offseason. Regardless of what it was, generational talents like Doncic don't get move in their prime, especially in a trade that materialized as quick as it did.
Gotta pack them bags just in case now a days . If the Don got traded only lord knows
— CJ McCollum (@CJMcCollum) February 2, 2025
McCollum followed up with another post saying, "Gotta pack them bags just in case now a days . If the Don got traded only lord knows." The NBA's trade deadline is still days away on February 6th, and while McCollum hasn't been included in any rumors, neither was Doncic till this evening.
