Former Bengals Star Carson Palmer Named Head Football Coach at Santa Margarita High School

Palmer spent eight seasons with the Bengals from 2003-10.

CINCINNATI — Former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer is the new head football coach at his alma mater, Santa Margarita High School.

Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times was the first to report the news.

Palmer won the Heisman Trophy at USC and was picked by the Bengals with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Palmer spent eight seasons in Cincinnati, making the Pro Bowl twice and leading the Bengals to two AFC North Championships.

He demanded a trade and briefly retired in 2011, before the Bengals traded him to the Raiders for first and second round draft picks.

Palmer went on to play 15 NFL seasons with the Bengals, Cardinals and Raiders, making three Pro Bowls in the process.
